The Sold Short is looking for writers

The Sold Short is looking for writers to pitch pieces related to inequality, labor, justice, and how we live now. No deadline. Since it’s a web vertical there will be a need to stories on an ongoing basis.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Sold Short is The New Republic’s coverage of inequality, labor, justice, and how we live now. The New Republic is an intellectual call to arms for public-minded intellectuals advocating liberal reform in a new industrial age. It is also committed to the need to rethink outworn assumptions and political superstitions as radically changing conditions demand.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN SUBMISSION

  •  Write a short introduction about yourself
  • Include a paragraph highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits
  • Attach links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.

COMPENSATION

  •  Fees start at $400. Kill fee minimum is $50. The rate will depend on the piece—how long it is, the difficulty of reporting involved, the time it will likely take to pull together.
