The Real Deal, a real-estate-focused website, seeks reporter in L.A.

The Real Deal, a leading real-estate focused news publication, is looking for a reporter for its Los Angeles newsroom.

With over 3 million visits a month, TheRealDeal.com is a go-to news source for the country’s top real estate, finance and investment professionals. Coverage includes breaking news, investigative stories, market reports and longform narrative profiles. The publication won the General Excellence award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers in 2018. Its work is regularly cited by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, CNN, Variety and a host of business publications.

In addition to covering the deals, the publication aims through its reporting to weave a tapestry of the
characters that make the market – the developers with skyscraper dreams, the politicians who kiss their rings and all the assorted hustlers in between.

The reporter would be responsible for writing several original web stories per week on the L.A. real-estate beat, produce in-depth features for the website and our quarterly magazine, and aggregate the biggest industry news from other publications.

The ideal candidate would have an interest in covering money and power and a keen desire to learn how the industry brings together elements of politics, business, entertainment, finance and law. The ability to break news is a must, as is the ability to cultivate sources, pitch story ideas and write clean copy on deadline.  Experience in business journalism is a plus.

This is a full-time position based at TRD’s West Hollywood office.
