  • Assertively seeking out and executing notification opportunities, including alerts that incorporate rich text and media elements.
  • Writing and editing push notification language that distills a story’s most important and interesting elements into ~140 characters of text.
  • Supporting the teams that build our messaging platforms by executing experiments and providing expertise and guidance.
  • Developing a mastery of the tools we use to send push notifications and targeted emails, and the analytics we use to assess their impact.
  • Occasionally filling in as a homescreen producer.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience as a digital news editor.
  • Excellence in news judgment, audience-sensitive framing and writing mechanics.
  • External candidates who are finalists for the position will complete a Times editing test and an assessment of digital presentation skills.
