The New York Times seeks a graphics multimedia editor

The Graphics department at The Times is looking to hire an experienced visual journalist to report, write, design and code graphics and multimedia stories, including the presentation of statistical visualizations, video, photography and animation.

This graphics editor will be responsible for conceptualizing new lines of reporting, analyzing data to find stories, and collaborating with other journalists from around the newsroom to create original visual journalism. They should have a demonstrated ability to create graphics-focused coverage on breaking news and enterprise timelines, and have published a variety of visual forms.

This graphics editor should exercise journalistic judgment, visual creativity and innovation while ensuring the accuracy, clarify and validity of the content they publish.

Applications should include links to a portfolio or work samples to demonstrate the creation of visual journalism. A cover letter describing your role in specific projects is a plus.


Requirements:

  • Expertise in development of interactive graphics or Web sites, including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Skill in interface design and information graphic design.
  • Expertise in data analysis, including R, Python or similar approaches.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Curiosity and interest in the news, and in finding innovative approaches to telling stories.

The annual base pay range for this role is between $105,308.84 and $136,000.00.
