The New York Times seeks a deputy tech editor

The New York Times is looking for an experienced editor to join our technology team, to edit news and features and examine how tech and policy intersect, as well as how misinformation is evolving online and affecting politics and geopolitics. Based in New York, this editor needs to be eager to jump on breaking news and able to shape and elevate enterprise stories, working with reporters in New York, Washington D.C. and San Francisco to cover the big stories of the day.

The editor should be comfortable working on a wide variety of story forms, from live briefings to long-form features, and switching between beats — from coverage of antitrust to the growing competition between platforms — and collaborating with counterparts across the paper.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience editing news and enterprise stories.
  • Experience managing reporters with a wide range of skills.
  • Team player, who can collaborate within the business section and with colleagues across The Times.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A deep knowledge of the technology industry, tech regulation and the challenges for companies, consumers and regulators.
  • An eagerness to experiment with different story forms and formats.

The annual base pay range for this role is between $134,000.00 and $185,000.00.
