The Messenger seeks a social video strategist, audience development

We are seeking an experienced Social Video Strategist to join our growing team. This role entails the development and execution of a robust social video strategy across multiple platforms including YouTube, TikTok, and YT Shorts, with the ultimate goal of boosting our online presence and establishing a solid brand identity.

Hours and Location:

This role is entirely remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from any corner of the United States. If you’re close to our offices in New York or D.C., hybrid working options are also available. Your shift may vary and could encompass weekends, early mornings, the standard 9-5, or even stretch into the evening hours. Our work, by nature, aligns with the fluctuating news cycle and the demands of social media engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and drive a comprehensive social video strategy across platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and YT Shorts
  • Collaborate closely with editorial teams, our Head of Audience Editorial, Head of Social Video and Head of Social to create content that reflects The Messenger’s unique voice.
  • Stay abreast of emerging social media platforms and identify opportunities for growth and engagement, tracking trends, internet culture and memes
  • Monitor performance metrics and provide recommendations for optimization
  • Guide the team on creating impactful content, collaborating across the newsroom, and optimal team structuring
  • Comfortable working across varying deadlines, and keep up with Internet culture, memes, and trends

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience doing video strategy, with proven success
  • Established industry relationships and contacts
  • Proven track record in social media strategy and video content creation
  • Advanced skills in social video editing and strategy backed by a compelling portfolio
  • A deep understanding of social media platform algorithms
  • Strong relationships with social media platform moderators
  • Familiarity with the digital media landscape, including emerging platforms
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to analyze data and adjust strategy accordingly

**Salary range: $115,000/yr – $150,000/yr**
