The Messenger is looking for an editor to run the Breaking News team for its Science & Technology section. The ideal candidate has a strong background in science or tech reporting, and must have experience identifying, assigning and editing live news as it breaks; they are focused on speed and accuracy, and not afraid to turn around a large quantity of copy every day. They know where to look to find what’s new and trending before anyone else has the story. This editor will lead a team of early career reporters, and will help them learn the tools of the trade. It’s an ideal position for an experienced journalist who wants to be a mentor and a teacher in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
