The Journal Gazette, the largest news-gathering organization in northeast Indiana, is ready to hire an energetic reporter with the ability to identify daily and in-depth stories, with an emphasis on growth and development. The successful candidate to join our Fort Wayne-based team will be an individual who also knows the value of promoting content online, including through social media, and will help our newsroom departments push our work that way. The ideal candidate will have excellent time-management skills and work well under deadline pressure.
The person who fills this job would be expected to:
Preferred candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and at least two years of daily newspaper reporting experience.
Knowledge about SEO and other related online operations and opportunities is a plus.
The reporting beat part of this position includes covering some local zoning and planning commissions with an eye toward news developments, but also big-picture stories about where local government and businesses are investing. This reporter will also take the lead on local and regional public health and environmental stories.
