The Information seeks a Wall Street reporter

October 16, 2020

Posted by Chris Roush

If you’re interested in how the capital markets work, and you love the tech industry, The Information has a job for you. We’re looking for a reporter to cover tech companies’ interactions with Wall Street: how the companies go public and how they deal with investors and Wall Street once they are public.

This may be the best time to cover this beat. Companies can now choose to go public via the traditional IPO, through a direct listing, or by merging with a SPAC. In the coming year, direct listings are expected to evolve, as companies get the right to raise money through a hybrid direct listing. Meanwhile, the stock market is trading at near record highs, driven by the tech sector.

The successful candidate will know her or his way around the banking world and big institutional investors, with a proven track record in breaking news. They will know how to read financial statements, allowing them to write critically about valuations of public stocks. You’ll work closely with our team of reporters who covers the startup and venture capital communities.

This is an opportunity to join the growing team of journalists at The Information, writing about what’s important in tech and media for a discerning audience. In nearly seven years, The Information has attracted tens of thousands of paying subscribers—putting the business on a firm footing—including some of the most influential people on the planet.

Compensation is competitive and includes aggressive bonuses. We offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, three weeks paid vacation (starting), generous family leave, a 401(k), a technology budget and a gym stipend.

Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to https://boards.greenhouse.io/theinformation/jobs/4197518003. We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, particularly people of color. We are committed to diversity and to building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages.
