The Information seeks a cryptocurrency reporter

September 3, 2019

Posted by Chris Roush

The Information is looking for an enterprising reporter to cover blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. The crypto and blockchain industry has evolved from a niche sector to one that permeates business and consumer life, potentially changing everything from the way financial transactions are conducted to how products are traced to how consumers spend money. The beat has all the elements of a journalist’s dream job: mysterious entrepreneurs, cutting-edge technology, clashes between businesses and regulators and opaque markets that demand scrutiny.

At The Information, we publish unique, deeply reported stories, not rewritten press releases. That means our reporters can pursue fresh ideas, get out and meet sources and take the time to do in-depth journalism.

The ideal candidate will have experience covering business or technology, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate sources, break news and write news and feature stories.

Nearly six years old, The Information has established itself as the go-to source for hard-hitting, in-depth coverage of the technology industry. Our stories have exposed sexual harassment in venture capital, chronicled the demise of over-hyped startups, tracked the global expansion of ride hailing and uncovered the limitations of self-driving cars. The successful candidate will work alongside reporters and editors with long experience covering business and previously worked at organizations including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and Bloomberg.

Compensation is competitive and includes aggressive bonuses. We offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, three weeks paid vacation (starting), generous family leave, a 401(k), a technology budget and a gym stipend.
