The Galveston County Daily News seeks a skilled, versatile, energetic journalist to join its copy editing/design desk.

Viable candidates will have experience building newspaper pages using InDesign, and knowledge of AP style, grammar, punctuation and spelling.

This job requires working a traditional evening/night copy desk schedule.

The Daily News publishes in print five days a week — Tuesdays through Fridays with a combined Saturday/Sunday Weekend edition — and every day in digital form at GalvNews.com.

The newspaper covers a county of almost 350,000 people just south of the Houston metroplex. Its offices are in Galveston, a historic city on an island off the Texas Gulf Coast known for beaches, bays, historic architecture and close proximity to Houston’s urban amenities.

The Daily News is an award-winning organization with a well-earned reputation for excellence. It is the oldest daily newspaper in Texas, tracing its roots to 1842.

The Daily News provides fulltime employees with paid vacation and offers health insurance, a 401K with employer match and other benefits.

Send a resume, cover letter and no more than 10 examples of page designs, graphics and illustrations (if you don’t have the latter two, don’t worry; they aren’t mandatory) to Editor Michael A.
