Hello travel freelancer, writer and blogger world! I’m the new assistant editor for The Discoverer and we’re building our freelance pool. If you love travel, we’d love to hear form you!

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Discoverer aims to change the way we discover the world and inspire people to explore Earth’s most incredible destinations, whether that means grabbing a suitcase and heading out on a new journey, or simply reading a story about an exotic location while curled up at home. Each edition features insight from genuine discoverers in its community.

The Discoverer inspires people to travel better, smarter, and more often. We help people make the best decisions possible for where and how they should be exploring the world around them. And if we can entertain them in the process, even better.

ABOUT THE ROLE

After two years of dormancy – think of us like a giant, sleeping content bear – we’re ready to begin publishing again and are looking for freelance writers to contribute new guides, essays, interviews, and really any other type of content you can think of within the world of travel. Is this broad? Yes, but we’re in the process of expanding and redefining what sort of content you’ll find on The Discoverer, so we’re very open to new ideas. We’re also very interested in bringing on a diverse mix of contributors, and strongly encourage women, BIPOC, and/or LGBTQIA+ or nonbinary individuals to pitch us.

For any piece that you’re interested in writing, it should be well-researched and thorough – you’re the expert, show the reader why. Also, please only pitch ideas for places you have personally visited, know well, and can enthusiastically vouch for in terms of recommendations. We understand that travel has been a difficult process over the past few years, however, The Discoverer is NOT interested in any pieces written remotely without RECENT on-the-ground experience to back them up. If you can’t tell us what it’s like in the destination right now, you shouldn’t be pitching us on it.
