The Dickinson Press is searching for an experienced reporter or exceptional recent graduate to join our newsroom as a General Assignments Reporter.
Who we want:
This reporter will be responsible for bringing community-driven, professional and hyper-local focused news to the Western Edge of North Dakota.
Our ideal candidate will be comfortable constantly moving from one story to the next and reading digital analytics to produce the best, most engaging work for our readers.
We’re looking for a resourceful and energetic self-starter who can manage multiple assignments and write in an attention-grabbing style. In addition, you should be savvy with multimedia and social media platforms, have a knack for writing on topics and issues of interest to younger readers, and be able to work with the newsroom’s multimedia teams to present stories in the most effective way possible.

Duties:
- Write five clean-copy, AP-style news articles based on original reporting every week
- Anticipate, prepare for and cover major developments within southwest North Dakota
- Build meaningful relationships with sources, entities and fellow colleagues
- Collect material for feature stories and maintain a pipeline of content to ensure daily production
- Generate and pitch ideas for original stories and features
- Work flexible days and hours, which may include nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work remotely from southwest North Dakota
