The Defrag is looking for writers

June 6, 2022

If any freelancers are interested in contributing to The Defrag (written or audio), send us your pitch!

For any journalists interested in this, what we’re looking for are story pitches covering tech, business, politics, and science. Stories can be analysis of a current event, or could be a deeper dive article.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Defrag explores the intersection of technology, business, politics, and science. It asks hard questions, challenges ideas, and helps organize the complex information that’s driving our society. It takes a global focus with its stories.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for freelance journalists to write news, features, or analysis, not ‘content writers’. It also helps if you send a few links to stuff you’ve written for other publications. Also, if you haven’t bothered to look at the range of content we publish, then you’re definitely not going to be a contributor. Ultimately, just pitch a story you want to write, and give some examples of previous work, rather than applying for it like it’s a job.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN SUBMISSION

Write a short introduction about yourself
Include a paragraph highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits
Attach links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.

COMPENSATION

  • $200+ per article
