The Deal seeks M&A reporter in New York

The Deal LLC, an award-winning financial multi-media division of TheStreet Inc., publishes a two-edition daily newspaper and website (pipeline.thedeal.com), online databases, and online and print newsletters geared to the financial and business community.

The Deal brings you breaking news and analyses on developments in the deal spectrum: mergers and acquisitions, auctions, private equity, shareholder activism, bankruptcy, out-of-court restructurings and debt financing.

We have an exciting opportunity in New York City for an M&A News Writer.

Responsibilities include:
Report and write daily and feature stories
Source development
Lead generation
Deal research
Data inputting
Data analysis

Required skills:
College degree in Journalism, English or Liberal Arts from an accredited institution
Recent grads welcome, but 2 years’ experience in business journalism or in investment banking preferred
Self-starter
Good writer, even better reporter
Works well within a team
Can juggle daily assignments
Attention to detail
Must be organized and able to meet all deadlines

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
