The Deal, an award-winning business unit of TheStreet Inc., is seeking an Assistant Managing Editor.
Based in London, the Assistant Managing Editor will work closely with our Washington, D.C., and New York staffs to coordinate coverage of and edit stories about global equities markets, shareholder activism and auctions. These stories range from breaking daily news items to astute analysis pieces to sharp features and data-driven columns.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can generate ideas and help others refine their own, serving as a sounding board for reporters who are navigating complex regulatory, corporate governance and investment issues.
This senior person should be comfortable in a digital newsroom, conversant in social media and knowledgeable about web publishing technology.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of editing experience for a daily newspaper, web site or wire service.
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong work ethic and desire to bring out the best in others
• Solid knowledge of corporate finance and stock market issues
• Ability to work well with others under daily deadline pressure
• Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills
• Ability to craft catchy, page view-generating headlines
• Experience compiling a daily news budget
• Experience doing video work
• Experience with spreadsheets and data
Other requirements include:
• Solid working knowledge of sophisticated corporate finance concepts
• Ambition to provide insightful, well-reported and timely stories to a customer base of knowledgeable investors and financial professionals
