The Daily Record seeks special products editor

The Daily Record, Maryland’s only daily business and legal news source, is seeking a full-time Special Products Editor.

The ideal candidate must be able to interact seamlessly with all departments at The Daily Record, including editorial, advertising, marketing and events.

This position is responsible for working with the sales department, editorial department and outside freelancers and customer contacts to create and edit 32-plus special products a year, including event magazines, our Path to Excellence Women’s Guide to Business quarterly magazine, client publications and various other special products.

The Special Products Editor must be skilled at project management with excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills and the ability to juggle both short-term and long-term deadlines. A great attitude and positive energy are a must.

The Special Products Editor also must be able to interact with the public at The Daily Record sponsored events, networking events and as the contact for marketing and custom publications for clients statewide.

Excellent copy editing skills and knowledge of AP style are a must.  Digital and print experience is required.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
