Maryland Daily RecordThe Daily Record is seeking a legal editor to oversee its coverage of legal affairs.

The ideal candidate has a background in law, is an excellent writer and communicator, has leadership experience and a proven track record of managing a team. He or she must be fluent with the broad spectrum of legal issues now at play in Maryland. The ideal candidate has experience in a fast-paced environment, must be deadline-oriented and has proven experience creating, editing and posting print, online and social media content.

Now in its 127th year, The Daily Record is Maryland’s trusted source for legal and business news. The Law Editor would work out of the Baltimore office but will be covering and planning statewide news. The ideal candidate will maintain and grow our current coverage and bring new, creative ideas to our organization to help grow readership.

Currently, The Daily Record’s legal coverage includes: trends in law school education; emerging practice specialties; changes in the business of law for solos as well as small and large firms; legislative proposals that affect the judicial system; profiles of major participants in the legal field; and pivotal decisions and rulings at the trial and appellate court level.

We provide a database of unreported Court of Special Appeals rulings for subscribers and Maryland Family Law Update, a separate subscription product. We strive to thoughtfully assess the myriad and important ways that the practice of law shapes the culture and society of Maryland.

If you are interested in this position with The Dolan Co. or any of our subsidiaries, please send your resume along with a cover letter to: careers@thedolancompany.com.
