The Blacklight is looking for investigative writers

The Blacklight  is looking for experienced freelance investigative journalists. Our focus is the impact of COVID-19 on Black and brown communities, especially in NYC.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Blacklight is the Amsterdam News’ investigative unit. It is dedicated to exposing wrongdoing and uncovering the truth wherever it may be, with focus on stories that impact communities of color in the New York region and beyond.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN SUBMISSION

Write a short introduction about yourself
Include a paragraph highlighting your writing experience, relevant credentials and publication credits
Attach links to your strongest work or portfolio, and online profile.

    $1 a word
    800-1500 words
    2-4 interviews
    Research 2-5 days

    Long form Articles
    $2 a word or flat commission fee
