Texas Lawyer seeks business reporter

Texas Lawyer is seeking an experienced business reporter in Houston or Dallas to cover the intersection of law and energy for its daily online and weekly print publication.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for covering energy and legal topics. This reporter will write about lawyers who put together big energy deals, fight over national and global billion-dollar cases and work on complex regulatory matters.

Qualifications:
• At least 1-2 years’ experience in a daily news environment
• Ability to produce clean copy
• Adept at covering breaking news while crafting smart enterprise pieces
• Experience with energy coverage or legal coverage is a plus, as is experience using social media.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
