Techonomy seeks a managing editor

Over the past decade, Techonomy has become one of the leading media platforms covering the intersection of technology, the economy, and society.  We believe that technology can accelerate social and economic progress, and we are looking for a managing editor who shares that belief. Techonomy publishes digital content daily, distributes a weekly newsletter, and hosts physical and virtual events throughout the year. Over a decade we have built a community of thought leaders from business, tech, academia, and government.

You may moderate sessions both virtually and at in-person Techonomy events. A passion for tech and its impact on business and society is essential.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide editorial strategy, input, and support to the website, newsletter, and events.

  • Assign, traffic, edit and write pieces regularly for the website and newsletter.

  • Help identify, recruit, and oversee freelance writers.

  • Represent Techonomy at external events.

  • Collaborate on and edit marketing, partner and curated content.

  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed by the editorial team.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience conceiving, writing and editing copy.

  • Familiarity with WordPress, HubSpot, Google Analytics, social media platforms/best practices and SEO.

  • Intellectually engaged, curious and well informed. You care about what’s going on in the world and how technology can be used to create a more equitable world.

  • Interest in and/or knowledge of topics related to emerging technologies: 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud & Edge Computing, Internet of Things, the Metaverse, Mobility, etc.

  • A team player with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and collaborate within a nimble team.
