States Newsroom is seeking an experienced journalist as Editor in Chief for a new Utah news outlet featuring hard-hitting reporting and insightful commentary on state government, policy, and politics.
States Newsroom, a growing network of nonprofit news sites focused on state government, policy and politics is looking for an Editor to hire and oversee three reporters, write commentary, and represent the outlet in the Beehive State. The outlet will provide investigative and in-depth daily reporting as well as analysis of the most critical challenges Utahns face.
Based in Salt Lake City, the Editor will also work with policy experts in Utah to feature their content on a dynamic site and build the outlet’s robust social media presence. The Editor will work closely with States Newsroom and network peers in other states to share best practices and build relationships that help refine the outlet’s operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Editor will have funding for staffing, freelancers, technology and overhead expenses. Technical, marketing and editorial support are provided by our headquarters office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum salary for a state editor is $90,000 and rises with experience.
