Join The Missouri Independent and give readers hard-hitting coverage of how state policies affect individuals’ reproductive health, rights and economic realities.
Part of States Newsroom, The Independent believes in enlisting and empowering journalists to do impactful, editorial ambitious work.
This experienced reporter will focus exclusively on providing comprehensive coverage of reproductive health issues in Missouri. The Independent’s office is in Jefferson City, but for the right candidate this position can be based anywhere in the state. The reporter will produce daily and enterprise stories, take photos and share content on social media.
This reporter will work with the Editor-in-Chief to track political and legal developments and hold officials accountable through deep source-building and public records requests.
But we’re also looking for a reporter with the expertise to illuminate how the evolving legal and policy landscape in reproductive health affects Missourians, their families, their doctors and their communities.
This grant-funded position is supported through Oct. 31, 2025, with possibility of renewal.
Authorization to work in the United States is required.
The salary for this position is $65,000. Relocation stipend will be considered.
To apply, send a cover letter, resume, and at least three links or clips to jobs-at-statesnewsroom.com. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
