STAT seeks investigative reporter

August 6, 2020

Posted by Chris Roush

STAT, a leading health and medicine publication, is looking for a tenacious and skillful investigative reporter to produce short-term and long-form stories about health, medicine, and life sciences, with an immediate focus on holding businesses, research institutions, and government health agencies accountable for their performance in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

We’re seeking a reporter who has demonstrated an ability to deliver scoops and deep watchdog journalism and is nimble enough to take on deep dives or jump on quicker-turn pieces.

We want this reporter to be indefatigable in meeting this critical moment in health and medicine. It would be a plus if the applicant has reported on health and science, covered business, or has an equivalent background. Experience in data journalism would be welcome. Much as we’d like this reporter to be based at our Boston headquarters (when offices reopen), that is not required.

STAT prides itself on its culture, so collaborative spirit, flexibility, and willingness to innovate are essential. Also essential: Fidelity to bedrock journalistic values and a commitment to excellence. STAT is affiliated with Boston Globe Media but is independent from The Boston Globe. Please submit your resume, cover letter, and up to six clips to Gideon Gil, our managing editor for projects. His email is gideon.gil@statnews.com.
