STAT, a national health and medicine publication, is looking for an energetic, versatile, and hard-charging reporter our Washington D.C. bureau.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a beat reporter covering both the business and politics of health care and will already be based in Washington. Experience covering Congress and/or the FDA is a plus.

STAT covers a range of issues debated in D.C., with a particular emphasis on drug pricing, biomedical research funding and the pharmaceutical industry’s influence in Washington.

We’re looking for a flexible reporter who can break news and deliver quick-turn analyses, including for our subscription product, STAT Plus, but also conceive of and execute illuminating, provocative and unexpected enterprise stories. Our Washington reporters are a small but close-knit team, reporting to an editor based in our Boston headquarters.

STAT is a startup, so collaborative spirit, initiative and a willingness to innovate are essential. Also essential: Fidelity to bedrock journalistic values and a commitment to excellence.

STAT is affiliated with Boston Globe Media but is independent from The Boston Globe.
