St. Louis Post-Dispatch seeks biotech reporter

The St. Louis Post Dispatch is seeking a skilled journalist with knowledge of business in general and the biotech/life sciences industry in particular to take on one of the most important beats in our newsroom.

St. Louis is at the center of business and research in both plant and life sciences. It is home to biotech giant Monsanto Co., the Danforth Plant Science Center, Washington University and numerous other well-known and emerging life-science and agri-business companies.

It needs a reporter who can understand complex issues and write fairly, clearly, accurately and authoritatively. The candidate must be able to juggle breaking news, blog posts and longer-term enterprise. Experience in watchdog reporting, databases and document research is a must. Most of all it is looking for a versatile reporter who also is a collaborative colleague, critical thinker and a graceful storyteller. The right applicant also looks for ways to integrate photos, graphics and multimedia opportunities into coverage and is a leader in engaging audiences through social media.

At least three years of business and/or biotech reporting experience is preferred. Please send a resume, a cover letter describing how you would approach the job as well as clips and/or accessible links to Adam Goodman, deputy managing editor, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, at agoodman@post-dispatch.com or via the Lee Enterprises web site at lee.net/careers.
