The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is searching for a tenacious journalist with knowledge of energy and environmental issues.
We need a watchdog reporter who can understand complex issues and write fairly, clearly, accurately and authoritatively. The candidate must be able to juggle breaking news, blog posts and longer-term enterprise. Moreover, the right applicant looks for ways to integrate photos, graphics and multimedia opportunities into coverage and is a leader in engaging audiences through social media.
This is a demanding beat that is expected to provide a steady flow of breaking, enterprise and investigative stories for the front page. The energy/environment beat reporter will cover major electric, gas and water utilities as well as some of the world’s biggest coal companies, which are based in St. Louis.
In addition, this reporter must keep tabs on federal, state and regional environmental regulators; stay on top of major environmental issues ranging from coal ash to radioactive waste to a major underground landfill fire; and write about alternative energy developments and technologies. All candidates must have a minimum of two years experience covering energy companies and/or environmental issues.
If you are interested, please provide a resume, a cover letter describing how you would approach the job and up to five clips or accessible links. You may apply online at lee.net/careers or via email to Adam Goodman, deputy managing editor, at agoodman@post-dispatch.com.
