SportsBusiness Daily seeks assistant editor

Sports Business Daily seeks assistant editor to handle news aggregation, line editing, writing and other tasks.

Full-time position would be a Sunday-Thursday shift and feature work for Morning Buzz, The Daily, Closing Bell, etc. The assistant editor would assist on creating and updating story budget, track daily and weekly deadlines and make sure stories are well written and adequately sourced and documented.

Must be adaptable and have ability to pick up multiple tasks, must be comfortable with news aggregation, as well as working independently in a fast-paced news environment.

The job is based in Charlotte, N.C. Must have two to four years of editorial experience, excellent writing and copy editing skills, strong knowledge of the sports business, be familiar and comfortable with news aggregation and comfortable working on multiple deadlines. Duties

Feature work for Morning Buzz, The Daily, Closing Bell, etc. AE would assist on creating and updating story budget, track daily and weekly deadlines and make sure stories are well written and adequately sourced and documented.

Skills

Editorial experience, excellent writing and copy editing skills, strong knowledge of the sports business, be familiar and comfortable with news aggregation and comfortable working on multiple deadlines.

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
