S&P Global seeks banking reporter in Charlottesville

S&P Global Market Intelligence, a premier sector-focused news and information provider, is looking for a top-notch Bank Reporter to be based in its Charlottesville, Va., location to cover community banks. The beat will focus on small and midsize U.S. banks and the regulations, trends, economic events and technology that affect them.

On a day-to-day basis, our reporters combine spot reporting on breaking news with proprietary stories on key industry developments and trends. In addition, reporters provide on-the-ground coverage of hearings, shareholder meetings, conferences and other significant events.

The Impact:
Our real-time, subscription-based news service reaches an influential readership that includes major institutional investors, regulators and almost all of Wall Street’s leading investment banks. Our massive database, with comprehensive coverage of the market, regulatory and corporate data that impacts our sectors, offers ample opportunities to enhance and drive that reporting.

The Career Opportunity:
You will have a tremendous opportunity to grow personally and professionally in this role. Reporters cover their beat on a daily basis, allowing them to build a network of contacts, learn about market dynamics, and gain a greater understanding of the banking industry. S&P Global Market Intelligence is unique in that it provides for growth not only within a sector, but also amongst other sectors within our Newsroom, or even other groups and cross-functional teams.

The Team:
With over 40 people in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Newsroom, our reporters have the opportunity every day to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and are able to develop a close team dynamic with coworkers from around the globe. We offer a great, casual working environment and enjoy being within walking distance of Charlottesville’s historic downtown mall.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism
  • 1-3 years of reporting experience
  • Financial and/or business reporting experience is preferred

Our Hiring Manager Says:
“We’re looking for a curious, energetic reporter to tackle the community banking beat- cultivating sources, attending industry conferences and chasing down scoops about the thousands of small banks across the U.S.”
