South Florida Biz Journal seeks real estate reporter

As the real estate reporter in one of the hottest real estate markets in the country, you will be responsible for quality coverage across all platforms. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic reporter who will become the go-to source of real estate news, data and perspective in the thriving South Florida region.

In this position, the reporter must marry strong traditional journalism skills — source building, sharp interviewing techniques, strong analytical and investigative reporting skills, clear writing, document use – with online and social media know-how. A Business Journal reporter is widely recognized as the community’s foremost authority on his or her assigned beat. It is expected that the reporter will own the fast-paced real estate beat by breaking important hard news online and using print and video to tell the story behind the headlines.

Duties:

•Produce compelling, high-impact breaking news and enterprise that is rich with perspective and context for the South Florida business community. •Own the beat audience and conversation. •Build source network relentlessly. •Work collaboratively with editors, photographers, designers and others to maximize the impact of stories reported.

Skills:

•Ability to work independently and remotely. •Break news and identify newsworthy events and sources. •Strong writing, analytical and investigative interviewing skills. •Work under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately. •Experience with using social media to source and promote content. •Understanding all platforms including print, mobile and online.

Experience:

•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Minimum two years journalism experience with proven ability in reporting and writing. •Knowledge of the South Florida real estate market preferred.

The South Florida Business Journal is owned by American City Business Journals, a unit of Advance Publications Inc., which operates Conde Nast Magazines, Parade magazine, Fairchild Publications, the Golf Digest companies, Newhouse Newspapers and cable television interests.

The Business Journal caters directly to leaders in one of the most dynamic regions and diverse economies in the U.S.  Business leaders look to the Business Journal for local news and connections. The Business Journals’ digital network outranks wsj.com, nytimes.com and forbes.com with senior management, C-level executives and influencers.  We are growing in subscribers, readers, digital audience, e-news products and event attendees.  If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, we invite you to apply.
