The American News in Aberdeen, S.D., seeks a Business & Enterprise editor to take our reporting and planning to the next level.
This person would help direct our coverage in several ways:
* Plan and execute our weekly Community Business page and related social media.
* Identify consumer-driven news for our front page, our agriculture magazine and digital media.
* Manage the American News “business & consumer” brand on social media and digital platforms.
* Work with our reporters on watchdog and enterprise stories.
We plan several enterprise stories a year, and this person would be a project manager for several of them. The economy of Aberdeen and northeastern South Dakota is driven by agriculture, but health care and higher education are also growing fields. Being able to work with everyone from farmers to bank presidents will be required.
This is a great opportunity for a reporter wanting to move to management, or for a longtime journalist looking to make a difference.
