The School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina invites applications for the Baldwin Business and Financial Chair in Journalism.
We are interested in candidates with a national/international reputation and a record of professional achievements and expertise in both business journalism and the business of journalism and mass communications.
The successful candidate will be prepared to lead a program that goes beyond journalism to build alliances with faculty and students among disciplines across the campus and beyond.
The chair will be committed to teaching on the undergraduate and graduate level, leading curriculum development in business and financial communications and inspiring both outstanding scholarship and practice in the field. The school is open to either a tenure/tenure-track or term appointment, depending on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees and enrolls approximately 1,700 undergraduates and 60 graduate students. The School maintains a dual-track (academic and professional) tenure and promotion system and values both academic credentials and professional expertise. The faculty consists of a collegial group of researchers and educators with a wide range of backgrounds and interests
Candidates with a professional background should have a master’s degree and significant professional experience, including leadership positions in journalism or mass communications. Candidates from an academic background should have the earned doctorate, a proven research record, and professional/teaching experience.
