As global tourism is a massive beat, you will need to be adept at finding the meta narratives shaping tourism right now, from climate change to geopolitics. At the same time, you will also need to have your ear to the ground at the destination level, covering important tourism funding news, clever new campaigns, changing traveler demographics and trends, and other developments at this pivotal moment in tourism.
This beat is truly intersectional, and there is as much opportunity for general interest stories as there is for scoops in the tourism marketing world. Tourism leaders will be looking to your stories to ask (and answer) hard questions, and you will succeed when you find the threads that the wider travel media has yet to pick up on.

The ideal candidate will bring experience reporting and writing on business with strong contacts in the tourism sector. Along with this, you should have a good understanding of the macro trends in the business and marketing worlds.
