Seattle Times seeks business reporter

The Seattle Times has an opening for a three-year reporting residency in the Business section, designed for beginning journalists with some professional experience.

The program gives journalists a range of newsroom experiences, plus on-the-job training and development. We’re looking for someone who’s shown an ability to find and break news, write engaging feature and enterprise stories, and pursue watchdog journalism.

The schedule will include one Saturday or Sunday shift weekly as a general assignment reporter on the Metro desk. Familiarity with business fundamentals is a plus, as are strong digital and multimedia skills. Residents will receive a development plan and regular feedback, and be assigned a mentor.

Qualifications
• Recent college grads with a B.A. degree in journalism or a related field. (Applicants must have graduated by the time the residency begins.)
• Previous successful internships in daily newspaper or other media, and/or up to two years’ professional experience at a news organization.
Additional requirements:
• Applicants must have a car, a valid drivers license, and proof of auto insurance.
• Applicants must be available to work regular Saturday or Sunday shift as assigned.

To apply, submit the following materials no later than APRIL 15:
• A cover letter, a resume and a PDF containing links to five published samples of your work. Max file size of 4 MB (4,000KB)
