The Seattle Times is looking for an afternoon assistant metro editor to be a key leader on a digitally focused team whose aim is to build audience loyalty, and to encourage habitual, repeat visits to the site by consistently offering readers useful information for navigating their world.
This role requires a versatile, curious, digitally focused, audience-obsessed editor who thrives on breaking news and has a deep understanding of The Seattle Times’ readers, their interests and needs.
You must also be able to fill occasional weekend, evening or holiday editing shifts. The shift starts at 12 p.m. and goes through approximately 9 p.m. The afternoon editor should be aware of any breaking or developing news, as well as locally relevant topics and events that may be on audiences’ minds that afternoon.
The afternoon editor will also work closely with the wire editor to assure that they are not missing important stories and that we have the right lineup of content on the homepage.
