Seattle Times seeks a business reporter

July 29, 2021

Posted by Chris Roush

The Seattle Times, a family-owned news organization and one of the nation’s premier regional news sources, is looking for an experienced Business Reporter to join our Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom.

This role, while covering general assignments on the business beat, will focus on innovation. From Costco and Microsoft to the $15 minimum wage, from the first Medic One emergency cardiac unit to composite-fiber airliner wings to cloud computing, the Seattle area has long been a hotbed of new thinking. Innovation is key to surviving and prospering in today’s economy – and it’s the essence of business news.

As a Reporter, you will focus on innovation in its many forms: small entrepreneurs with a big idea, big companies revamping to stay ahead, trends in the wider economy, and people advocating for changes in the system. We’re looking for someone who can write quick-turn news-of-the-day business stories as well as enterprise pieces with accuracy and flair, and who will become a key player in our daily coverage for online, the Business section and A1.

Please note: this position is subject to grant renewal. While renewal is anticipated, funding for this role is not guaranteed. As such, the grant is expected to run three years. To learn more about our grant-funded projects, click here.
