Seattle Business seeks an editor

Tiger Oak Media seeks a full-time editor in chief with minimum 7 years of experience editing business or business-to-business magazines, weeklies or websites at a senior level for Seattle Business, Washington’s premier monthly business title and its website.

This position demands a top-notch editor with a knack for big ideas and smart sentences. The editor in chief works closely with the managing editor and art director as well as the director of content and associate publisher and events team to shape editorial content. This person runs editorial operations and oversees other editors and writers, writes stories and columns and serves as the “face” of the magazine, speaking on panels and appearing at events.

Ideal candidate is local, has insider knowledge of and unique insight into the Seattle and Washington state business scene, stays current with city issues, personalities and politics, and also feels comfortable with lifestyle topics such as travel, food, etc.

Must possess proven, exemplary editing skills, have a built-in network of business contacts and writers, be deadline-driven and have a passion for cross-platform storytelling. This position also oversees long-term story planning and editorial calendars, plans and maintains budget, and drives vision for awards programs and stories such as 100 Best Companies to Work For, Executive Excellence Awards, Leaders in Health Care Awards, Washington Manufacturing Awards.

Experience supervising other editors and interns required; sense of humor and creative thinking a huge plus.
