Scranton Times-Tribune seeks business reporter

The Times-Tribune, an award-winning daily newspaper in Scranton, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a business reporter who will thrive creating breaking news and enterprise stories for our business section.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced journalist with several years’ beat experience and interest in business, banking and finance. He or she must have high standards, sophisticated insight into public and business affairs, a fluid writing style, tough reporting skills – and the clips to show it.

The Times-Tribune, a family-owned daily newspaper, has a strong focus on digital so the business reporter will need to understand the basics and importance of the Web in breaking news.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
