Saratoga Sun seeks a reporter

You’re a person who loves to tell the stories of those around you, who knows there’s a story behind the story and is community-minded and community-driven. You enjoy talking to people, have a passion for writing and are looking to begin a career.

Us: We’re the Platte Valley’s newspaper. Publishing continuously for over 130 years, we’re one of the state’s pioneer publications, established two years before Wyoming was granted statehood. Like you, we’re community-minded and community-driven. We take our role in the community of watchdog and the first-draft of history seriously.

What we expect:

  • The ideal candidate for this position is familiar with word processing programs such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
  • They are also willing to learn and open to additional training.
  • A general assignment reporter will be expected to cover a wide-variety of subjects ranging from high school prep sports to local government meetings
  • Writing feature articles on Valley residents
  • Reporting on the outdoor recreation and tourism of the area.

What we can provide: While previous experience is preferred, training can be provided. The Saratoga Sun has won multiple awards from the Wyoming Press Association over the years including several individual awards for articles and column writing, as well as Editorial Excellence in 2021. Along with training, we also provide Paid Time Off and 401(k) after one year.
