Sarasota paper seeks business reporter

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune is looking for an experienced, entrepreneurial and driven business reporter who can join a heavy-hitting team of journalists covering one of the most dynamic business communities in Florida. The Herald-Tribune is nationally recognized for quality journalism and an innovative spirit. Only the best should apply.

Southwest Florida is the home to beautiful beaches, a striking topography and a vibrant arts community that for decades has drawn current and former CEOs from around the country. A major effort is underway to diversify the region’s economy away from its dependence on real estate and tourism and to create a hub for biotech companies, high-technology firms and practitioners in the creative class. One local developer just set aside 265 acres with a vision of 4.5 million square feet of space where biotechnologists could literally live, work and play

The successful candidate would explore and chronicle such economic development in the region and the host of dynamic partnerships between government, foundations and private enterprise coalescing as part of this effort to transform the region. Digital engagement and innovative storytelling are high priorities for the Herald-Tribune. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to grow into a team leadership role.
