The San Diego Business Journal, the region’s premier local business publication, has an immediate opportunity for an entry-level reporter who can report and write important, informative and interesting stories.
We’re looking for a reporter who can turn profiles of industry leaders and innovators, identify and explain emerging trends, and write stories that prompt readers to say, “Well, I’ll be darned, I didn’t know that.”
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational skills who is able to cultivate sources, has strong analytical skills and is able to relate comfortably to a wide range of people, in person, on the phone and online.
The reporter we seek will have a solid understanding of news writing and journalistic ethics, know how to build and leverage relationships with sources to deliver compelling content; and contribute to the planning and production of visuals, from photographs to charts and graphics.
Qualifications: College degree required, journalism or communications-related degree preferred. Experience in business journalism preferred, but a clear passion and aptitude for this niche will ultimately win the job.
