Sactown magazine in Sacramento is looking for a talented managing editor to help manage our day-to-day editorial operations. The ME will work closely with the editors-in-chief (who own the magazine) to conceive, assign and edit both short and feature-length stories for print and online (features can range from 2,000-8,000 words). The city magazine is a dynamic bimonthly publication that covers topics including food, the arts, politics, architecture, design, business, travel and more.

We are looking to fill a couple of senior-level editorial positions, so if this one isn’t exactly the right fit for you but if you have a lot of magazine experience or alt-weekly experience and you’re interested in joining us, please feel free to reach out. We are not currently looking for any entry-level editorial staffers.
Though we do have an office in lively midtown Sacramento, working from the office is optional and most of our staff chooses to work from home. We’re looking for applicants who live in the Sacramento region or are willing to relocate here and immerse themselves in the regional culture. If you’re interested, please send a one-page cover letter summarizing your qualifications and reasons for your interest in this position, resume, links to a few clips, and salary range requirements.
