Rochester Business Journal seeks a reporter

The Rochester Business Journal and New York Daily Record are seeking a reporter to cover the region’s diverse business community.

This beat covers a broad range of topics, from financial services to technology, from long-established universities and hospitals to startups. This reporter will dig into economic development trends, entrepreneurship, innovation, nonprofits and how state and local policymaking affect business practices. We’re looking for candidates with multimedia skills who love storytelling, have a hunger for breaking news online and the skills and talent to fashion it into a compelling story for print.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
