Riverfront Times seeks a staff photographer/videographer

St. Louis’ only alt-weekly has an opening for a full-time staff photographer/videographer.

We’re looking for an expert shooter who’s interested in a wide variety of assignments, including event slideshows, news stories, short videos and cover shoots. You must have experience with both photojournalism and video editing. You must also be willing to work nights and weekends, since many of the events we seek to cover do not take place during office hours.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is adept at juggling multiple projects — and can work on deadline when the story requires it. Familiarity with social media platforms including TikTok and Instagram is a big plus, as is the willingness to experience all aspects of St. Louis nightlife, from burlesque shows to rap battles to dive bars. An interest in the local restaurant scene is also a plus.

The skills we’re looking for

  • Excellent photography skills, with a portfolio that speaks to experience shooting different types of events and scenes
  • Superior videography skills, with the ability to edit your own work for various platforms including YouTube and TikTok
  • Knowledge of St. Louis and a deep interest in the people, places and things that matter to St. Louisans
  • Ability to edit your shots quickly when the story demands it
  • Ability to write accurate and precise captions as well as short descriptions of events you visit
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and collaboratively
