Richmond Times-Dispatch seeks deputy business editor

The Richmond Times-Dispatch seeks an organized and efficient deputy business editor to help run the newsroom’s staff of business reporters and its 7-day-a-week business news operation.

Responsibilities include helping to edit the daily business section and other business desk stories for other sections, overseeing the evening production of the daily business section, assisting with editing content for the weekly sections Sunday Business and Metro Business, serving as a backup to the business editor, posting breaking business news stories to Richmond.com and working among departments with other reporters and editors to produce the region’s strongest business news report.

This editor would work a later shift (approximate hours are noon-8 p.m. weekdays).

Required Skills
Strong editing skills, knowledge of AP Style, ability to juggle multiple stories and projects at once, quick and accurate editing of stories for web posting, strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with other business team members and other editors and reporters throughout the newsroom.

Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree, plus at least five years of daily business news experience at a newspaper or similar news environment.
