Richmond Times-Dispatch seeks business reporter

The Richmond Times-Dispatch is seeking an aggressive, self-starting business news reporter.

The ideal candidate will break business news and develop business news features and high-impact enterprise for print and online. Good news judgment and an energetic personality as well as strong writing and business news reporting skills are required.

Must be able to produce multimedia elements to accompany reporting, including some video and social media.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. The reporter must be able to generate own story ideas.
  2. Must have command of English and AP style and creativity in writing styles. Must be able to manage several assignments/stories simultaneously and be able to deliver clean copy on deadline.
  3. General knowledge of corporate financial documents including SEC filings, bankruptcy court filings and other financial reports is preferred. Must have command of Internet and database searches and be adept with Microsoft Office products and other computer applications. Ability to take photos and record audio and video preferred.
