Reuters seeks an exceptional journalist and experienced newsroom manager to run our West Coast bureaus. From Silicon Valley to Hollywood, the West Coast bureau chief will help drive our coverage of some of the world’s best-known companies, including Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Tesla, Uber and Walt Disney. The ideal candidate will be based in San Francisco and have a deep understanding of the technology industry and business reporting.
We are looking for a highly creative editor who can spot interesting trends and work with reporters to build sources and turn their ideas into great stories. If needed, the bureau chief may be asked to take charge of big breaking general news stories, such as natural disasters or major political events, coordinating closely with other editors and teams to produce a multimedia file.
The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader, able to develop, motivate and coordinate a talented team of journalists working mainly in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He or she must also be a strong team player who can collaborate effectively with specialist editors across the country and around the world, including our Global Technology Editor based in Asia.
The job application period closes on February 1.
