Reuters seeks Wall Street editor

October 19, 2017

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters-LogoReuters is looking for an established equity market news professional to lead our fast-paced coverage of the U.S. stock market in New York.

The team is responsible for Reuters coverage of the daily activity in U.S. equities, including production of the widely read market wrap and, more importantly, for delivering up-to-the-minute news on the movement of individual stocks now aggregated in our Stocks Buzz news feed.

We’re looking for someone who can lead the charge to unearth the reasons for sudden changes in stock prices and share volumes, as well as to break news on publicly traded companies from within the market. Stocks Buzz has won praise and has a loyal following from our core Eikon and Thomson One subscribers, and the person selected for this post will have a key role in strengthening that client relationship.

As the public face of our newsroom for Wealth Management customers and stakeholders, the individual will meet regularly with both client-facing staff inside the Thomson Reuters Finance & Risk unit and with subscribers themselves. Inside the busy New York newsroom, the stocks team is the nexus between our coverage of U.S. companies, the U.S. economy and of the region’s equity markets, the largest and deepest in the world.

Understanding the myriad ways Corporate America interacts with Wall Street is essential, as is a can-do attitude toward bolstering our coverage of companies. Stocks Buzz is an important component of that, but hardly the only one. The team generates other high-value content, including analyses, Insights and, increasingly, graphics-led stories. The successful candidate must be a proven idea generator and, just as importantly, must demonstrate an ability to foster ideas from the team.

Requirements:

  • At least seven years of experience covering or leading the coverage of financial markets or institutions
  • Deep knowledge of equity markets and companies, including corporate financial statements, and a familiarity with competing asset classes such as bonds
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of sophisticated market, corporate and economic analytic tools (ie, Eikon, DataStream, charting) and in their application to the news file
  • Track record of engagement with customers and stakeholders, including buyside clients and our partners within Thomson Reuters
