Reuters is looking for an auto industry reporter who can break news and develop enterprise features on the UK and European auto sectors. An important part of the job will be to collaborate with French and Italian language reporters on coverage of Renault, Peugeot, Fiat Chrysler and Ferrari as well as major automotive suppliers in Italy, France and the UK.
The beat includes coverage of automotive trade and environmental regulation, such as the impact of Brexit and proposals to ban internal combustion engines in EU cities. We have an appetite for more consumer-oriented stories about Europe’s ultra-premium auto brands, the electric vehicle lifestyle and digital technology in the car.
This is a job for confident writer who is enthusiastic about working with photographers and videographers to deliver strong visuals to go with smart text.
Experience covering the auto sector is a plus, but not required.
You should have:
- A track record of developing business enterprise features.
- Extensive journalism experience.
- A willingness to collaborate with members of the European and global automotive teams, sharing bylines when needed to deliver timely stories.
The ability to speak and write in French and/or Italian is desirable.
Candidates selected for interviews should be prepared to provide up to five published stories demonstrating an ability to spot trends, decode business double-talk and explain complicated technology or business strategies clearly. Candidates may also be asked to take a writing test.
