Reuters is looking for a dynamic, experienced journalist with strong writing skills and a passion for speed to work in our Berlin bureau covering a range of political, economic, financial and general news stories.
Germany is Europe’s largest economy and an increasingly influential player on the international stage. It is at the centre of Europe’s refugee crisis and has led the response to turmoil in the euro zone and the standoff with Russia over Ukraine in recent years. We are looking for someone who will be comfortable navigating this diverse array of stories and identifying new angles and connections before the competition.
You should be a self starter who is full of ideas and has a proven track record of turning these ideas into colorful, agenda-setting stories. Strong news judgment and an ability to explain the significance of domestic events to an international audience is essential.
Importantly, we want a team player who will work constructively with German language colleagues, Reuters TV, news editors, and other bureaus in the region and beyond. This role will include some slot duties and weekend shifts, as well as scope for deeply reported stories. Fluency in German is a must.
Qualifications
– At least 5 years experience in journalism
– Good German and excellent written English required
– Strong writing skills, news judgment and record of contact building/breaking news
– Proven ability to deliver longer-form stories with deep reporting
– Fast and accurate in whatever you do
– Solid understanding of legal risks and strong ethics
